Jack Black Biotack
BAM! It appears to the mainstream that Jack Black has just burst on to the scene out of nowhere. In reality, however, you will see something very different. Like Jesus and Santa Claus, JB has been around us the entire time. Look in movies like Waterworld and The Fan, and there he is. At that point, though, we weren't really getting a taste of the true Jables. Back then he was still a protege of Tim RobbinsÊfrom a UCLA acting troupe and the lead singer of the dynamic rock duo Tenacious D. Born the son of two NASA scientists (they both worked on the Hubble Telescope), Black was an eccentric attention-eating machine. He realized at an early age that he liked to perform and pursued this throughÊstage as both an actor and singer. He actually started his acting career in a stage play, directed by Robbins, called Carnage. From there, he received minor roles in a slew of movies, starting with Bob Roberts. In the meantime, he and Kyle Gass met each other around 1994 while working together in a comedy troupe. Though they didn't like each other at first, they quickly became friends and discovered that they, together, had the ability do something that not many others can do: Move you. Tenacious D was born. The band consisted of only two guys, yet rocked harder than bands with thrice the volume. They did a performance that year and a man by the name of David Cross sat in attendance. David introduced Jack and Kyle to a bunch of other people: Bob Odenkirk, Janeane Garafelo, Ben Stiller, etc. As they attained more exposure, they gained a higher following, which led to their own HBO series that lasted an all too brief six episodes. As the snowball that started as Jack Black rolled into an avalanche, JB was gaining more notoriety and exposure in movies, until truly bursting onto the scene in High Fidelity, eating up every scene he was in. After that he attained other major roles in such as films Orange County, Saving Silverman, and the lead roles in Shallow Hal and School Of Rock. He had to play the straight man in Shallow Hal, but in Rock he was able to perform as the passionate, hard-rocking Jack Black his fans knew him to be. Since then he has stayed true to his roots.ÊTenacious D plays in venues time to time all around Hollywood, and he lives in LA with his longterm girlffiend Laura Kightlinger (former SNL cast member). Hollywood has realized he's a manic force that has yet to be reckoned with, and we're sure to see more great things to come.
